Hey everyone!!

Sam!!! My man!! Planning on dropping it soon. It is just a matter of finding a shop that I trust or trying it on my own. I would really like to do it myself, but without your DIY pics I am not that confident. It has been years since I have wrenched around on a car. Most likely within the next 30 days I will have it done though. I can't stand the wheel wells right now. I started the Navi03 retrofit this weekend, was going to post a DIY but unfortunately I had some problems... Here is my story in a nutshell:

I received the Navi03 unit in the mail. Opened up the trunk and popped in the unit. I started the software update with the OS V.32 I burnt to a CD-R. It booted up and while it was loading I closed up the trunk and got everything back to normal. I figured since the update started, the unit worked fine.

So the software update finishes and it is time to load the DVD map and call it a successful retrofit. Well, the excitement was short lived. The unit's CD-IN light will only come on when a cd is inserted. The unit does not recognize any DVD I put in and although it doesn't spit the DVD out the light never comes on and the "No map DVD/CD" language doesn't change. Frustrating. I tried the OEM 2004.1 DVD, a burned single layer 2009.1 high DVD, and many others and got the same response or lack thereof. I even went to the local $tealership and had them try a 2009.2 OEM DVD and still no luck.

I am thinking at this point that since the laser has to operate at higher light output to read the DVD dense disks that it may be getting weak and thus only capable of reading CDs at this point. I tried a cleaner but nothing changed. Every cd I put in is recognized, but every DVD is met with the same fate.

All of the DVDs I tried worked totally fine in my Navi02 unit. Even a DVD-R version of the OS V.32 worked in the Navi02 which is not recognized in the Navi03. Luckily the seller of the Navi03 unit is sending me a replacement and has been so overwhelmingly accommodating and nice that I feel bad for the unit being defective.

Just thought I would share. I was so excited to finish it all up you know?
