Are 22's going to be much rougher than 20's?

That one big wheel and one ultra-short tire sidewall. There is no way that I would ever run on that in New York City as it would not last a week on the roads here. But in climates where there is no real winter and no freezing and thawing to create potholes, it might work. The size is a matter of subjective tastes. I don't like the wheel quite that big but others might.

Those are only 22"s. As for the potholes, we have our fair share in the SF Bay Area also. In the previous post, I only stated that I liked the ride comfort better now. I forgot to mention that if going 22"s, people should put some money away to fix, or even replace rims. There is now way around it. 22"s on 7 series = bent wheels.

Righto. Wheels that big on a car are not for everyone. They sure do make a visual statement but you'd need a hell of a wheel budget here in NYC as our roads would rip a 22 inch wheel and tire combo to shreds.

Here are some examples of the side affects of 22"s on the heavy a$$ 7 series.

No surprise there. You pay a price for high fashion.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up, I think you're convincing me to change my mind.

What about gas consumption? Does it get worse w/ 22" rims (I'm looking at Asanti 128 in that size)

I never really looked into the gas consumption. It doesnt really bother me. I think either leave it stock, or go 22's. I dont think it makes any sense to go aftermarket 3 piece 20" wheels on these cars.

solved. 22's on a 7 = stupid. If you are planning ahead of time to have to shell out more money for bent rims its not a good idea.

wrong, 7 series is NOT a 5 series. 20s looks WRONG. 22s is the way to go on the 7. 5 series you definantly want to go 20s. 7 series + couple thousand dollar rims, I am sure you can afford to have them fixed here n there . Gotta pay to play.
