Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a 635d Coupe. I've had my M5 Touring for 10 months now but the fuel consumption together with the small fuel tank is driving me crazy! Also the lack of low end torque forces you to drive the car at high revs which I don't always want to do.
I know the 6-series weighs less than the 5-series but is there a really different driving feel to a 6-series compared to a 5-series? Before the M5 Touring I had a 525d Sedan. If I get a 635d it will be one with Dynamic Drive and Active Steering.
Is there anyone else that switched from a 5-series to a 6-series and wants to share their experience??

Interesting - the fact you from a tourer to a coupe - won't that have an impact on your capacity needs ?
driving experience from a 5 to 6 is noticeable but not dramatic. The 6er has a shorter final gear ratio than the 5 making it nippier in acceleration.

Personally, I find the interior of the e60 LCI of higher quality feel.
If your main reason to trade in the M5 is the fuel consumption, I should keep the M5. You can fill 'er up many times for the depreciation!!

The 635d I'm considering is also an LCI model, they only became available in September 2007. I know you will lose money when trading in or selling your existing car but it's partly psychological, I just get fed up filling the M5 up at least 2 times a week! Also the depreciation will hit me anyway whether I sell the M5 now or in a year's time.
True, but if you're motives are economical, the diesel isnt't the answer. Although the 635d is a great car!
If you remap the 35d engine, it's a blast. I recently drove a remapped 2008 535d with sport auto, approx. 330hp and 750Nm and it was amazing! My car has the Dynamic Drive, so I can also compare that to the M5 (as a friend of mine has an M5). I think the differences are most noticable above 200 km/h. The M5 feels much more stable and braking from for example 250 km/h+ feels much more confident with the M5. Also, the sound of the M5 is of course much nicer!
But, because of huge amount of torque, the diesel is a far more relaxed daily driver (also because of the auto trans), witth which you can easily drive 800 km without filling it up!

I switched from a 530i to a 650 for about 8 months ago and I love the 6-series.
I think the 650 feels much more agile and direct while driving and I'm in love with the v8 sound. It feels different while driving, I think it feels longer than the E60 but that is probably due to the long hood. On the E60 I didn't have AS which I have now and I like it, it takes time to get used to it but it is really nice.
I think the 650 is very economical even thou it has got a big engine. While driving on highway around 130 kph i get around 0,9-1 l/10 km which i think is great. During urban driving the consumption is around 1,6 l / 10 km. You're not considering the 650?

I made my decision and bought the 635d. Picking it up on Saturday! Deep Sea Blue with Saddlebrown interior and full options such as active cruise control, comfort access, softclose, Individual audio, head-up display, leather dash, etc.
Any idea where I can get a Sprint Booster in the Netherlands?
