the Hartge manifold set and sport cats is going for 4,500 euros! It is the cheapest alternative compared to other tuners such as Schnitzer, Hamann, and RD All the headers and sport catalytic looks similar to each other and are retailing about $6,000 euros.

Thanks Sandy, it looks like with this setup, the first resonators are removed from the system. Do they keep the 2nd (box) stock resonator (?) or do they have a similar setup like RDs', ie. crossover..

4500euros is only the headers + cat. if you continue all the way to the end you should add another 2500 ??

..still cheaper I guess from RD's quote of 10500euros for complete setup.

Hartge header and sport cats will cost you 4,500 euros, to complete the full system you still need the centre/X-pipe pipe and muffler which will cost you additional 1,800 euros. Total complete exhaust system will be 6,300 euros. Its definitely cheaper than the RD Yes, the sport cats will replace the front resonators. I'm currently negotiating on a set of Hartge header and sport catalytic set.

Yup! I wish we are able to change only the header. Unfortunately, the cats is welded on to the headers  so we have to buy both the header and the cats
wait, the pic in the 1st post doesn't look welded. it looks like the headers are attached to the cats via a flange. so why can't you just un-bolt them?

hence, why can't you buy them separately?

the stock bmw header has the catalytic welded on to it, as shown it this diagram:

Hartge header and sport catalytic set actually replace the stock header and front resonator. Front resonator will be replace by the sport catalytic.

i know, let me put it this way...

why not replace stock headers/cats with hartge headers without their sport cats? attach their headers to front resonator or whatever catback you might have. my point is, get new headers and bypass cats. that'd probably be the most powerful and best sounding combination...

just have to find a way to get rid of CEL or live with it.

In Europe, you gotta have the cats, sports or otherwise. I wish I could, but it's illegal and the car would be
garaged after a (equivalant) DMV check...

Its illegal here too, but there's always ways around those requirements...

bypassing the cats will caused the "check engine" light to appear, unless you can accomodate the lambda probe sensors on your front resonators. The ecu unit has to detect exhaust gas measurement for the engine to run optimally. I'll try to discuss with Hartge if we can opt out the sport cats....
