My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
Although officially released by BMW it is still a "concept". Expect changes to mirrors, wheels and lord knows what else.
It does match in many ways the mules under going testing in the US and Europe.
The center console speaker "pops" up when audio system is turned on. There is a full description in the press release which is in the link in the OP post.
I do hope they UN-busy the front end. Just too much going on. I'll at least not have to have a front plate so that will help some. And I worry about no hood and shiny metal around the pop up iDrive display. Hope the new display technology can stand direct sunlight. Would hope the two tone seats will be available but perhaps this is a "individual" version of the concept.

The name's V - not ^ !
That's correct - B&O is coming to a friendly BMW near you
Honestly, I wish they went with B&W, like Jaguar did. Bang & Olufsen may be slightly better known, but Bower & Wilkins' speakers are most definitely far above and beyond B&O in quality of sound. BMW may have opted for B&O also because they have more expertise with Audi - and we all know how much BMW is "trying to beat Audi" these days
I think you'll decide that you like it once you see it in person. I haven't yet, but I can tell that all the perceived volumes on the car are intentionally sleeker, made to look lithe and radiate this easy luxury. So maybe some of the design cues appear "questionable" on pics, when your eye perceives the 3D object, you will see a slightly different car - more confident, assertive. At least, I hope so - worked that way with the F10 to an extent (except F10's front end design could benefit from a head-on collision IMO).
I agree with V ... the side view profile is perfectly proportioned and the interior is absolutely stunning! But, yes, the front is the weakest element (not too bad but something is just a bit off).
Now I can't wait to see the Gran Coupe.
Is that a B&O speaker hidden in the window switch assembly on the door panel? Cool! Is that B&O speaker on the dash a pop-up or is it permanently elevated like that? It just looks odd that way.

Finally, some faith restored in BMW that they can still design a nice vehicle! Very promising, now we gotta see the Gran Coupe to decide whether we want 2 doors or 4 doors!

Thank God for this design! I was seriously thinking "is this the end of BMW for me...?" after witnessing a horrific design of F10 5 Series!
Now I'm looking forward to 2012 - M6 in this design!
It looks aggressive already, can't wait how the M6 will look!!!
