nitro thing???

are you referring to the flames from the exhaust?
my guess is the 430 was a euro version. the euro 430 is known to shoot flames even on a stock car. i believe it is probably due to less restrictive cats in the euro car (at least this was true for the challenge stradale). in any case, the flames in the movie were overblown though. you should only see flames during shifts or when you take your foot off the throttle during hard acceleration.

yep, 430 would of caused a flame by backfiring, but geehz what the hell they trying to pull on that movie? i tell you what they pulled!!! a fast and furious, too fast to furious, tokyo drift hollywood digitized mumbo jumbo bs flame crap. guarantee you that you will see a movie car f430 that was heavily modded with msd ignitions in the back with lots of electrical wiring. cause i seen the skyline r34 movie car and it was the same way.. what they trying to pull haha i think the movie would of been better off showing of real flames when it backfires like in the lemans series getto!

I agree, and I think it was real. I think the parts where it was flaming happened at shifts and as you say (likely at high RPM), and when they were letting off the throttle at fairly high RPMs. They would be doing that in traffic... just the kind of driving in the scene.

Anyway, Michael Mann was all about complete realism in this movie, so I doubt he went the fake route with the Ferrari. It was a good movie, and it was visually gorgeous. He and his DP have definitely honed the technique they're using with the digital cams. It looks so much better than Collateral did. The digital not only looked great, but I think it was an important element that added to the realism of the film.

I think they were actually in Havana. While they didn't really show any well known stuff, the lights and the night skyline certainly looked just like it does there. I didn't wait to see the credits to see if they had a location crew for Havana.
