Since you seem to be getting your ducks in a row, you might want to go shopping at Giant Eagle a bunch more to increase your fuel perks balance -- you're going to need it!!!

Brain Fart! Let me run this other option by you guys. HINT: M5!

My dealer has had a black on black 6-speed 2008 M5 there since last July. I had written a post back in August of how I flogged the beast during a test drive back then. Well, the car is still there and they want to get rid of it badly, as you might expect. We worked up #'s on that as well, and after my own personal crunching of the #'s for both the M6 and M5, the M5 is looking like a more financially sound decision. Here's what we got:

10K mi/year, 24 month lease....$0 down, $1209/mo payment ($2055 due at signing for 1st month, acq. fee, plates, etc.).

The only thing that sucks is that it has that FUGLY Olive Ash, light wood trim, but I already negotiated that if I bought the replacement Madeira Walnut trim, they'd install it for free.

How's that sound compared to a slightly used '07 M6 at $1513/mo @ 6% financing over 60 months, or $1332/mo over 72 months @ 6.95% with $5000 down on each?! No brainer?!?! Feedback please!

Tough call, but you've already got an e60 in your stable, granted it's not an M5. But it is a four door sport sedan.

I'd have to disagree re: the comment that my current car is a "sport sedan." Not the way it rides and drives now, and the xi doesn't really have a sport suspension, per se.

I'd list the 530xi on leasetrader or swapalease.com to get rid of the car & payment without losing anything, because you are right about having 2 fives. That was the main reason I was interested in the M6...something different. However, like you say....the M5 is different beast all together, regardless!

that was my next q, as to if you were keeping your current ride along with this new possible purchase. If not, I guess it depends on need/practicality of a sedan over "coupe". I'm partial to a 4 door, so in that you have my opinion. Tough choice, nice place for you to be though, having to choose between 2 great vehicles....

I don't need a sedan at all. In fact, no one has sat in my back seat since I got my 530xi last May....ever. I like the size of a sedan though, the sturdiness of it all. I'd prefer the M6 in a heartbeat, but to be honest, both M's would be big monthly nuts to crack either way. And with already having a 5, I am not sure what to do at this point. I don't need $1900 in car payments each month.....nobody "needs" that. I fear that the money issue will overcome my joy of the driving experience in either case. I guess you could say I am coming down from my high and the sensible part of my brain is taking over.

If I didn't have the "problem" of having my current car, I'd be in buying the M6 tomorrow, period. I know I could put it online for a lease swap deal, but that's a chance as well. My payment is great, only $573, but there are no guarantees.

OPTION C: Alpine White 2008 550i w/ Sport Package, 6 sp manual, Cold weather and nothing else...pretty bare bones, but it's another car they want to get rid of...a special order that was refused. I can get this for dealer cost as well, maybe below. I drove it today....wasn't as kick-ass as the M6, but what do you expect? It was certainly more fun than my 530 though. I just wish it had more goodies, especially the Logic7 at least. How do you special order a 550 sport with base stereo?! Sticker is only $64,625. I'd have to get rid of the 530 someway, somehow though.

Lease rates quoted: 10K mi/yr, 24 months, $3839 due at signing (includes $2K cap reduction) = $793.84/mo.

Kick-ass price compared to my M6 and M5 options, though. How 'bout them bones?
