So, not a single car made in 04 or beg. 05 has black interior? Ideally I wanted black/burgundy interior, black exterior. Are you saying that there are only grey/burgundy interiors for 04 and beg. 05?

Yeah, I was just looking at them. Looks really good. I have a question for you - how does Chateau interior tolerates dirt? I'm not taking extreme cases, just regular day to day dust, occasional shoe polish marks, etc?? Is it hard to keep clean? I'm pretty anal about the cleanliness of my cars, but most of them have black interiors with dark/black carpets.

Very easy to keep clean. Does not show dirt /scuffs much at all and with regular cleaning looks just fine including in-between cleanings. I am so pleased - it is a pleasing color.
The search continues.
Also, one more question- how often do you have to go to a dealer to fix something? I'm not talking minor stuff, but something that actually requires an appointment and some warranty work?
My 5 was very bad in hte beginning, but once they sorted things out, it was pretty much problem free since. I would like to keep the 6 indefinitely (just like my Z3!), so reliability is a big issue for me.

I had an "Infant Mortality" failure of the iDrive display within 1st week. Replaced and no problems since coming up on 58k & 3 years. Got upgrades (in my signature) by identifying issues but none were show stoppers. A couple of anti-trap errors on windows but did not do special trip but waited for routine maintenance. Basically I acculmulated my issues (took photos to show error messages) and simply added to the list of things to do when scheduled maintenance was required.
I did have a sensor (lateral acceleration) fail intermittantly while driving the ToD but it did not HARD failure until I was 8 miles from dealer turning it in for routine maintenance (lucky).

When did BMW introduced start/stop button on the 6, or was it there from the beginning?

Thanks CD!
Is there are any other changes like the button that you can't read about in the brochures? (I got my hands on a set of 6-series brochures I was studying over the weekend), but I can't really tell whether there were these minor changes over time. So far I decided to look for 04 or 05 645i black/chateau w/ Sport pack.
