Like Tbal said "you're just getting started" Well, I guess this is where I start.

Here in TN, we get alot of big rigs and that just means alot of rock chips. I'm looking to get a clear bra for the car but have no clue what to look for? Pointers? What's the basic procedure? Average cost? What are the little things I need to watch out for? What's bra is recommended and does anyone know of a professional in my area, knoxville TN.

Hahaha told you so Its one of those things that you THINK you can prevent, but you end up doing it anyways...

I think it really comes down to the experiance, and quality of clear bra they use. I know 3m is really good... I've seen some jobs that look horrible, and you can clearly see the bra. Good installers, you will not be able to tell you have a clear bra installed. Shop around, ask for examples, pix etc....

I have no choice but to shop around. Sad thing is, knoxville is small compare to the bigger cities in cali, ny, etc. I dont know if the demand is high for guys to train and master the installation process around here. Does BMW dealership do the install and what do they usually charge?

I had Llumar blear bra on my black 545 and after about a year, you can see the lines. This is mainly due to wax/polish build up at the crease. I've been so tempted to repaint my front bumper and hood on my M5 due to all the rock chips but don't know if I want to use a clear bra again.

Anyone have better luck with a particular clear bra brand on a black car?

We don't have as many choices here in Dallas either. Take your time and research. You might want to check out Venture Shield as well (http://www.invisiblepatterns.com/products.php). Here's a couple of dealers in your state:

I suggest going to Fat Cat Customs for the installation. They're also a certified OEM installer for Land Rover.

I don't think the BMW dealership does the install. Most likely they sublet the work to a 3rd-party agent. I had one (3M I believe) installed on my car for around $700. They also included a custom cut-out for my front splitter. Door-handle wells were also included. One detail to check is to make sure that it covers at least half the hood (mine did), and that the material on the side fenders line up with the hood (see pics below).

It's not as noticeable on light-colored cars. Here are some pics of mine

hope this helps

I thought clear bras are much more visible on lighter colored cars. Since mine is white I was told it is the worse. Is that line on your hood where the bra stops? IMHO it is extremely visible and I would be pissed. I wish these guys were local because they do amazing wraps http://www.premiermobilegroup.com/ I've seen their work on a full Enzo wrap, Porsche CGT, LP560-4, etc. They developed a new film that is really kick ass.

audi swiped a wall with their wrap and no paint damage http://www.luxury4play.com/european-auto/1...-clear-bra.html

Alpina B7 in white which is hard to do
