My Ride: My 1st was an '06 530xi, Titanium Silver w/ gray dakota leather, sport pkg. & Nav.
Now my 2nd is an '08 650i CP, Space Gray, Blk Dakota, Sprt. Auto, HUD, Sprt. Pkg., Prem. Sound, High Beam Ast. & Comfort Access
Quick question; should the artist/song name show in idrive when playing a CD? In my '08 650i I am only getting the CD number and a track number... i.e. track 1-13. This is occuring with CD's I burned and store bought CD's. In my '06 530xi the track information was visible in idrive. Thanks for your input.

My Ride: See sig :)
The artist name, track name will only show if you burn a cd with mp3s on it. (Even than, you must follow certain recording procedures else not all the info will show) (do a search, plenty of help on this topic)
A normal audio cd will show track 1, track 2 etc...
hope that helps.

The in-dash CD drive will also display artist and title on a NORMAL CD only if the CD Text information is available on the normal Audio CD. Not many have this information on there. If you have a CD that is displaying the text in one car but not on the other then show that to the dealer.
I used the feature when I made my audio system tuning CD. It was a really boon to see the actual freq being played rather than sitting with a list of track number and freq on a piece of paper.

First decide if you want to make a normal Audio cd or a data cd with mp3 on it.
If you want text on a normal audio cd then most CD burning software will allow you to enter the information per track. If you're after the mp3 CD burning guide then see http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=24018
