NICE!

but there is one thing that i just don't get it? If your car is a push button start. Then why do you still need to put your key in ignition? on all the BENZzzz you can put the key in your pocket and you still can start your car! i just don't get it???

Depends on the package/options? I know my kuzins 07 x5 you can have the keys in the pocket, open the doors, start it without every touching the key. Im sure the option is available on all new bmws 06+.

That is the Comfort Access option. Why we have to pay $500 or $1000 for it, I have no clue. I too am spoiled by CA on the 550i and hate digging the key out of my pocket for the other car.

Thank you very much for the review!

Today I've a 2006 650i coupe and I'm picking up my 2010 650i Coupe with the optional sport package next week!

I've some questions for you!

1. When I read your review I got a bit worried when I read about the engine sound. Does it sound worse than the old?
Does it sound like this one?

2. Is there any difference regarding the performance?

3. How do you like the new gearbox?

Regards
Johan

[quote name='mr_djurgarden' post='912172' date='Jun 15 2009, 11:33 AM']I've some questions for you!

1. When I read your review I got a bit worried when I read about the engine sound. Does it sound worse than the old?
Does it sound like this one?

Yes it does. Its actually quite close. That is why I liked the sound of the 2006. However I really don't mind it since I usuallly travel with the windows up. Even in the winter I would occasionally drive with the windows down just to hear the roar of the 2006.

2. Is there any difference regarding the performance?

Yes there is. Today is the first day I felt comfortable letting loose (1150 miles). This morning when going into town on a country road I pushed around a couple of tight "S" turns . This car is so smooth I was worried it would not have the stiffness to handle turns. I know those turns well and I have never gone that fast around them . I'm more impressed with this car every day I drive it. If someone knows what the factory did to improve the ride. I would love to know.

Acceleration is different and for the better. In my 2006 I never quite knew whether I had a fast day or a slow day. Resetting the transmission always improved acceleration. The 2010 as you push the accelerator down the car always gives you more which was not always true with the 2006. It just feels faster.

3. How do you like the new gearbox?

It is really to early for me to tell. Since I will reach 1200 miles break in later today or tomorow I've yet to switch on sports mode. The only thing I can say is it always seem to be in the right gear or switches so quickly there doesn't seem to be an appreciable lag time.

Johan - I think you will enjoy the car. I sure am. I wish you well and good driving with your new machine.

Thank you for your answers!

I've som more questions for you!

Do you have Dynamic Drive and Active Steering on your car?

I'm interested in hearing if the sound changed when you switched to sport mode?

Also regarding the sport mode, did the gear changes go faster?

I've actually had it on both cars and really like it.

I'm sorry to say it is the same. No sound difference. I am not sure where you are located but for a little irony. Last week on the TV show "Burn Notice" the bad guy had a silver 650i. In one of the scenes the car takes off fast with the roar clearly supplied by BMW. It is the same I heard on my 2006.

Also regarding the sport mode, did the gear changes go faster?
The short answer is yes. The shift points are different and appear to be faster in shifts. What I do notice is this 2010 feels faster than my 2006. When I turned in the 2006 it had just gone beyond 50,000 miles. Maybe that's the difference.

Johan
