Spruce up Your Bimmer With Three Mods Under $100

YouTuber details the installation of three cheap and easy upgrades for all F30 and F32 BMWs.

Modifying a newer BMW is usually a pretty costly endeavor. YouTuber Nour Hummadi, though, has a video that highlights budget modifications that make a noticeable improvement to your BMW’s aesthetics and usability. In the video, Hummadi installs three upgrades on his 435i that cost less than $100 each. These mods should work for all F30 and F32 BMWs.

Hummadi starts by installing sequential LED turn signals in the 435i’s exterior mirrors. These lights are also referred to as “dynamic” lights. Their unique party trick is lighting up sequentially along the light strip when the signals are used. The new lenses are also smoked, so they’re darker than the OEM lenses and blend in better with the car’s styling. The DIY aspect of the installation in the video is pretty thorough and covers the removal of the mirror and the carbon fiber cap that are installed on his BMW.

Hummadi notes that you have to be extremely careful when removing the glass portion of the door mirrors. He proves it when he accidentally shatters the glass on the passenger’s side. The heated glass costs around $100 from the dealer, so it’s not the cheapest thing to replace. Several viewers comment that they’ve had the same issue. “You guys can see, they look twenty times better,” says Hummadi once the sequential lights are installed. The lights cost just over $60 on Amazon.

Hummadi next installs a new glossy trim piece around the navigation and stereo controls in place of the OEM matte surround. The new part is also backlit so it adds a nice touch of ambient light to the BMW’s interior. Installing this component is relatively easy and involves prying off the trim around the dash vents located just above the stereo controls. (Pro tip: to avoid scratching your interior you might want to use a plastic trim removal tool rather than the metal, flat-head screwdriver.) Once the trim is pried off, several screws are removed with an appropriately sized Torx bit. With the trim piece installed, Hummadi programs the color to Mode Classic which glows orange. Mode Sport is blue. The backlit trim costs around $55 on Amazon.

Lastly, Hummadi installs a wireless charging dock for a cell phone. This requires removing the center console trim around the shifter, and the cupholder. Then simply connect wireless charger into the factory plug. This last modification is personally my favorite since it makes cell phone charging much more convenient. Wireless phone chargers cost right around $70 on Amazon.

For a total cost of under $200, not including the broken glass, these modifications really do make noticeable improvements.
