BMW M3

If you have access to keys that will fire up an M DCT-equipped E90/92/93 M3, F10 M5 or F06/12/13 M6, and you own your own racetrack to legally try this out, get in any one of the aforementioned cars and set all the powertrain settings to their most dynamic level. After you’ve done that, simply floor the throttle (without launch control activated) and the car will engage in a “high-rpm clutch drop, which virtually guarantees a burnout will occur” according to BMW Product and Technology Communications Manager Matthew Russell.

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve played a video game with cheat codes, but learning about this secret Smokey Burnout function on the current M5, M6, and now previous-gen M3 is making me feel like I’ve learned how to unlock a video game’s “secret level” on which gameplay is more exciting. If you own one of these “secret burnout control” models, your BMW is probably feeling very new to you right about now.
