Leaked: BMW 2 Series Specs

BMW South Africa made an Internet boo-boo and posted details of the new BMW 2 Series on its website, including specifications and options.

A 2addicts.com forum member was making a “daily routine” check to the BMW South Africa website and nearly had a heart attack when seeing 2 Series info posted on the site.

Here are the highlights of what has been discovered:

The BMW 220i Coupe produces 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0L turbocharged I4. It weighs less than 3,000 lbs.

The 220d Coupe also weighs less than 3,000 lbs., and though it has as much horsepower as its petrol counterpart, it has 280 lb-ft of torque, so its 50 – 75-mph acceleration is more than a second faster than the 220i.

The M235i Coupe is the variant that will make drivers grin the widest with its 322-horsepower turbocharged I6. It’s about 250 lbs. heavier than the four-cylinder 2 Series variants, but will get to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds (5.0 seconds with the manual).
