Heavy Discussion: Drive on the 2013 M5 and M6
It’s a hard fact to face—as we get older, we tend to get heavier. And while the slow march toward portliness is hard enough to stop as person, it’s an order of magnitude harder for cars. With very few—like, almost no—exceptions, the new kid of the block will be heavier than the one it replaces. Safety requirements play a part of course, but driver’s ever-increasing thirst for gadgetry and creature comforts sure doesn’t help. But all the added weight doesn’t have to suck the lifeblood from our cars.

In this episode of Drive, Mike Spinelli, Motor Authority’s Nelson Ireson and BMW’s Matt Russell take a look at the history of BMW’s top two M cars and discuss how the latest in the versions performed during testing at Laguna Seca. Sure, there’s a lot of talking, but these are guys you should probably like listening to. Enjoy.
