F30 BMW M3 and F32 BMW M4 to be Revealed in Detroit

BMW 4 Series M Performance Line

Here’s how BMW is going to spoon feed you the introduction of its M4 and next-generation M3. Next month a concept will appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, by which time you’ll pretty much know how the cars will look, but for now, expect the F32 BMW M4 to look a lot like the 4 Series M Performance Line shown above.

After Pebble Beach, you can anticipate the M3 and M4 world debut at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in January, 2014.

Autocar is reporting both the M3 and M4 will get a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger. It is most probable this engine will be a version of the N55 breathed upon by the M performance division.

Autocar is confirming the M4 and next M3 will make heavier use of lightweight carbon fiber. A convertible M4 is in the production pipeline, but wagon fans will have to take a kick to the pants, for no M3 wagon is planned.
