C&D Pits 2013 M5 Against M6 Coupe at the Track
While the M5 and M6 are built serve different audiences of driving enthusiasts, they both carry the clout of the M badge. They’re similar, in that both cars provide dizzying levels of performance well beyond the capabilities of most drivers, but they’re more different than the same. The M6 is coupe, it’s lighter, and it’s also far more expensive than the M5. It’s also not as cool.
I may not agree with the M6 being the “Trans-am of Germany,” but I get the point that the their making in the video. Whereas the M3 and M5 have always been appealing thanks to their power and handling, the M6 has traditionally been a bit of a boat by comparison. A fast, stylish boat to be sure, but a boat nonetheless. However, both of these cars are new. The F10 M5 has recently been blasted for being “less fun” that the outgoing model, and the M6 is sporting a brand new body. Can the M6 shrug off it’s red-headed step child status? More importantly, is it a better car than the M5?
