76,190 BMWs Recalled for Possible Braking System Fault

Last month we reported the 2013 BMW 328i was under investigation for braking problems. That investigation has morphed into a voluntary recall affecting multiple models. If you own a 2012-2014 BMW powered by a 2.0 turbo four-cylinder engine, your car is one of 76,190 vehicles that could experience an oil-supply disruption from the intake camshaft to the vacuum pump that could interrupt the braking system’s power assistance. In other words, significantly more foot pressure would be needed to stop your car.

BMW has yet to come up with a fix. In the meantime, they recommend drivers who lose their power brakes slow down immediately and pull off the road.

Recall notices will be sent to affected owners in December.

This presents quite the dilemma for the road-rage-riddled BMW driver popularized in recent scientific studies. How is he/she going to safely tailgate or weave through traffic at 100 mph? Will aggressive people who own 2.0L four-cylinder X1, X3, Z4, 3 Series and 5 Series models be forced to drive safely for the next two months? Oh, the humanity!
