Buckled Wheels Fixed
The other day I got some tyres fitted to a 2007 E60 530d I bought a few months ago.
The car has the 18" staggered 124 pattern rims.
The tyre tech told me that the wheels were buckled - he showed me a couple on the balancing machine. The rim near face wasn't so bad but at the inside of the rim it was way out. I couldn't believe how bad they wobbled. There was no visible damage anywhere on the wheels though.
Anyway I did the usual online searches for wheel repair places and prices.
Some places wanted the car for at least a day - maybe overnight. $160/wheel seemed the typical price.
Eventually I found a place that would do all four for $400 and in less than a day. Onsite Alloy Repairs in Brisbane (Mobile Alloy Wheel Repairs Brisbane | Mag Repairs | Onsite Alloy Repairs).
I tool the wheels off and left them on the front lawn. They collected them around 7:00am and returned them around 10:30am. The need to take them away to fix this type of damage.
I spun the fronts on the car by hand and couldn't see any run-out at all - very happy about this.
I wonder what the last owner did that got them so out of round.
