Hi all

I'm still looking to find a second hand E61 Diesel (let's say 525 td). Now on certain sites sellers for example advertise a 10/2004 car as a 2005 model and a 11/2005 a 2006 model. Where there actuall differences between those years or are there only differences between the 04-06 and 07- onwards models? If there are differences then does anyone know what they are?

Hi, l have a 2006 06 reg The only difference between it and the 07 model is the increase in hp 173BHH to 177BHP, The gear lever and the tail lights. The reset other than software version is slightly different.

Only increase power, the gear lever and tail lights are the same, the change with LCI in 2007 (MY 2008). What changes is the I-drive knob and the key as on MY 2006 you have start/stop button. There are also some minor changes that you do not see.

If I recall correctly, BMW messed up somewhat on the NCAP crash safety with the E60/E61, and hence did a significant rework under the skin on the crash safety - sadly after my May 04 car - suspect that could be the later 2005 model ?

The first cars had a "real"ignition key. The start/stop button came 2005, I believe from Sep production... Not sure though Also,when they introduced the key fob, they introduced some other small technical upgrades such as automatic dry braking when wet.
