Retrofit comfort seats in my 545i
I have a 2004 545i pre-lci, born with standart full electric, memory in drivers seat and headed seats.
Yesterday I bought 2 frontseats, its the pre-lci Comfort seats. They also have the full electric, memory (in both sides) and headed seats. But the have a little more electric adjustment settings in the seats...
What do I need to retrofit these seats in my car?
Do i need any electric units or can it be done with some coding?
Hope you can help me, and sorry my bad english I do my best I'm from denmark.

Do some searching in this forum and others. I seem to remember some seat retrofits in the past few years.
BTW, I have the Comfort Seats in my 2006 and like them a alot.

My guess is that all the additional adjustments will be handled by the control module within the seats. Therefore, the electrical/airbag connections to the seat will be the same. In other words, plug-n-play. I doubt any coding will be necessary as the functions are controlled by the module that came with new seats. There are no coding options for seats.
BTW, I have a 545i sport and like the sport seats except on long trips. For those times, I also wish I had comfort seats.
PS: You mean heated, not headed.

Not sure that is true about coding. Comfort seats have extra options that show up in iDrive. The heat distribution between the seat and backrest can be changed with Comfort Seats and not with regular seats (don't know about Sport Seats).

Yesterday I installed the new seats in my car. All electric adjustment in the seats working!! Really happy about that.
But! Like always theres is problems... My Active Steering after I turned on the ignition says fault like this picture:

Does anybody know what to do? I have a OBD2 cable, but no experience.
When I mounted the seats, I dissconnected the battery.

My '04 545i has the sport package and thus sport seats. The seat temperature can be adjusted between back and bottom via idrive. I would be surprised that this feature was not available regardless of seat type. As the OP reported, it was plug-n-play.
Later generations of idrive call up the seat heater distribution screen each time a seat heat button is pressed.

Interesting, my 2008 X5 4.8i sport has seat heat distribution that pops up on the screen each time the seat heat button is pressed. My X5 does not have the cold weather package as it does not have a heated steering wheel or heated rear seats. It does have ventilated (a/c) seats with massage feature. As well as 4 zone HVAC.
Edit: Also, I believe the iDrive version was updated for the 2010 model year. So, your 2009 iDrive should be the same as my 2008 iDrive system.
