Ok, but the autofold works fine anyway?
I haven't bodered with fitting my new panel with auto fold button, since I've been missing the interior auto dim mirror, but now I might aswell just fit it and do the coding.

It works like a charm. I also have replaced the switch and coded remote folding. I already had lighting package and curb functionality in reverse, they are also working fine. In short no functionality missing only added folding.

Hi all!
I don't know if this question is silly but I'm going to ask it anyway:
Does all this stuff in this great mirrors thread apply to aftermarket mirrors too?
I can get a pair of brand new mirrors for the half of the price of the cheapest OEMs I could find.

I have retrofitted SA430 mirrors today.
It was Plug 'n' Play with some coding. (Half an hour job)
So, anyone who has post 9/2005 vehicle equipped with memory package, and electrochrome interior mirror can simply swap the mirrors, do some coding (Adding $430 to VO in CAS and LMA and then enable ABKLAPPEN function in KGM) and have their awesome power folding mirrors!!

Well, I was tempted to go with aftermarket ones (because of the M5 look), but I've managed to make a very good deal on the pair of OEMs on Ebay.
Plus, the wiring on aftermarket mirrors is crazy, bunch of wires coming out of them so I don't think I'd even give it a try with my knowledge in electrics.

My Ride: e61 525i 02.2005
I understand this topic was last updated years ago but maybe someone can help me out here -
I have been looking for e61 525i for a while and finally found one. Unfortunately it does not have folding mirrors nor memory seats. It was manufactured on 2005-05-13, has 431 Interior Rr Vw Mirror W Aut Anti-d also but memory seats were not fitted. How much of a pain is it going to be to fit auto folding mirrors? Having auto dimming ones would be great too but I do not expect that much really.
Any info would be great.
Thank you,

JUst to revive an old thread.
I retrofitted the LCI Mirrors based on Blood DIY, including running new 2 wires through the door to KGM (I didn't remember bruce's suggestion). then I also coded $430 to the car, which was 06 525i with VO #0905.
Now only the driver side works including auto fold, mirror adjustment and auto dim (not sure on the heat part though I bought mirrors with heat).
Passenger side does not work AT ALL which leads me to either (I) ground is not proper or (ii) I messed the LIN and Positive during the door wires feeding. Would this fry the module in the mirror by any chance?
