Man am I glad I found this forum, lots of great info on the E60.
My questions :
1. Given my 545i has a maf date of July 2004, how much should it cost me to retrofit bluetooth in terms of hours?
2. Do I need any parts of is it just the retro bluetooth coding as described in (SI B84 13 04)? I already have BMW Assist, and have used it so I know it has a micophone, speaker etc.
3. I want to install the AUX input for my ipod, how much should this cost me, the dealer quoted me from $35 for the part and said I could do it myself to $335 for parts and labour, is this something I can do myself or does it require some software updates?
I tired asking the dealer these questions, but all of them are giving me conflicting information, what else is new
Thanks for the help

Can't help you on the BT question, but I had my aux input installed for $64 part (after 10% BMWCCA discount) and $140 (1 hour) install in CA--per the attached instructions:

My Ride: Nov 04 BMW E61 525iA, Navi Prof CCC with voice recognition, Dakota Leather, Adaptive Xenon, PDC, Elec. seats with Seatmemory, Advanced Airco, Panorama Roof, 17" 138 runflat, DVB-T TV, Dimming Int. Mirror, CD Changer, Bluetooth retrofitted with Nokia 6230
I guess this depends what is already in your car. I just had bluetooth retrofitted 2 weeks ago in my E61 touring. As the car did not have any "phone prepared" stuff, I had to buy the retrofit set that includes the master cable tree. The standard installation time for this is around 8 hours (ouch!). If the master cable tree is there then its a lot easier and less work. I think the easiest way to check is to open the compartment in the roof where the mic goes and see if there is a cable there that connects to the mic. As you have BMW assist my guess is that the main cables are there and labour costs would go down from 8 to around 4 hours (my guess). There is still some rewiring to do and some of the connections are difficult to reach.
For me the parts in total costed around 800 Euros including VAT (the european version of sales tax) and another 900 for the actual installation. Good news is that bluetooth now works like a dream. Good reception and easy pairing with my nokia 6230 GSM. Only small disadvantage is the known problem that you only see one phone number per contact. Hope this helps.

thanks for the info guys, I was much more informed when I talked to the service tech. I am scheduled to get the bluetooth and aux work done next week. Now I hope it works with my Treo 650, soon to be updated to the Treo 700w or the Motorola Q whichever comes out first.
