they shoud be nervous, they've thrown countless hundreds of millions of euros on R&D on cars/savs that were not needed and can only lead to losses if they are maintained in the future...how may X6s will sell in year 3? how many GTs will sell period? how many crap X5 & X6 ///m wannabes will sell and bleed the company?

...and yet, the enthusiasts WANT something that BMW will NOT give us, ie NA POWER for ///M...there is a real market for this and BMW knows very well that we will leave if they dont give us what we want, but they seem to be ignoring their core constituents that make the Roundel what it is...great marketing decisions, build cars/savs that we dont want, and dont give their most fanatical buyers what they want, anyone care to guess where this will lead us

Absolutely on the money 'M630'. Wastes resources on failed models and 'strange' cross-over concepts, instead of solid models known to sell. For example; when did you last see a really nice new 'Alpine' model from BMW ?

I can't fault BMW for its efforts. Times change; tastes change; capability changes.

If only they had contacted me about this first, none of this would have happened.
I used to say exactly the same regarding Ford in the UK some years back!

If the X6 and 5GT are destined to be such failures, why is it that several manufactures have already copied the idea. This includes Honda and Acura, traditionally very conservative companies.

In fairness, with development lead times being what they are, it's hard to say that cars released or unveiled so close to the X6 and 5GT were necessarily copies - these cars with similar designs to the X6/6GT will also have been in development for years.

Hmmm, hatchbacks. Didn't BMWNA reject the 1 series 5-door, even after the i6 engine was added because "not enough customers wanted a hatchback." I tought it was real cool when I first saw it. But this new GT will certainly take getting used to seeing, along with the new hood lines.
