My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Carbon Black
i'm interested in black + the filter. have there been any recorded gains with this setup on an 08 550i (sport paddle auto)? is it worthwhile to add two? thanks!

You only need one for the 535i. This will help the DCI intake, but the BEST way to use the scoop is with the stock air box.

How come works better with stock airbox... I ask cause I see a lot of people on e90post that love the DCIs but I come on this forum and many people are not supportive of the DCI, but like a BMC or comparable filter with RPI scoop... I mean its the same engine, so I really am at a loss to understand it.

Put it this way, if Lamborghini, Porsche, AMG, BMW M etc wanted to put DCIs on their high performance cars they would. the reason they don't is because the stock air box is able to pull in cool ambient air without getting heat soaked like the DCIs.
