Default Another Ignition Coil Thread for S85 - inexpensive quality coils

Recently the shop E60 M5 developed a misfire in the beginning of the year on 7 and 4. So doing all the research and having previously paid over $70 per coil, decided to look and find an alternative. After much research and discovery, the coils that BMW currently sells are made in China. So we did some digging.

We are able to source the exact same coils for a significantly reduced price of $35 per coil. We're hoping to start a group buy for them. Since we'd like to have a few spares ourselves for our customers that come in and want us to do this job for them. We disassembled the factory coil and the aftermarket one, they are identical - wires, look, etc.

Compare $350 for a set of 10 vs $770 or even $550 at Oreilly for 10. $200 savings for basically the same thing as OE.

There are 2 minor differences between these and oem
  • The ignition coil hold down is somewhat flimsier and may or may not be black (just depends on which batch we get, some may be blue, black, or one was green.
  • The ignition coil opening - you need to push a little harder to insert the plug than OEM Bremi.

The coils have been on the car for several thousand miles and have been perfect. We installed them on a few other cars with same results.

If you are interested and want to get it started. Please put your name down. They are going to sell to us in batches of 10 (x 10) for the S85 motor only for the time being, but if these work out great, we'll probably begin to sell them directly to other motors. Also, they will be distributed from a USA warehouse, so delivery will be within 24 hours - 72 hours depending on where you are located. We've put up a paypal link here

PS: pics will be posted tonight or tomorrow, but just imagine the OEM coil.
