I am retrofitting another set of headlights. I noticed that the sheathing for the fiber optic cable is breaking apart in my hands. I placed electrical tape over the exposed areas that I can reach, but there are sections that are exposed in areas deep within the headlight. Is this a problem. Once again BMW uses quality parts!!!

I've never seen this issue first hand but if you're unhappy with the headlights I sold you ship them back to me and I will give you a full refund. Otherwise if they were damaged in shipping the insurance should cover it. Let me know what you would like to do.

My right side headlight has had this issue since I bought the car used with only 21K miles on it. It causes the angel eyes to turn out dim and yellow. My headlights were in stock condition when I bought the car. The only mod I did to them was the angel eye bulb upgrade. That is when I noticed the issue. I doubt the previous owner had been using aftermarket bulbs ( more heat ) or anything since the car has factory adaptive xenon headlights.

My AE fiber optic cables were also in that condition when I removed them for the Orion V2 mod.
The rubber sheathing became brittle with time.

Yeah I pretty much figured it was an age thing. However, I am just going to eat it since the seller of these lights is not really that friendly. Anyhow, I still think I got a fair deal. I may explore the V2 option for these lights.

Question: when installing the V2's does the fiber optic part get replaced? By the post above, I figure it does. Also, if I just replace the bulb does it make the AE's brighter even with the bad fiber optic cables?

Yes, Orions replace the optic parts.

The only problem I have had with mine is the fact one of the headlights wasn't fulled sealed correctly. There is condensation in the eyebrow. I gotta figure a way to fix that.
