Hi All!

Some time ago, I had mentioned about a Restraint System Warning. It was a general warning and not for a particular side (passenger/driver). Around this time, my battery was also weak and I had to j-start the car a few times. It was a 2yr old battery. Anyways, got that changed too. The SRS warning recurred a few days later. This started getting me very worried. The dealer removed it another time, but the damn thing came back.

So the last time I sent it in for diagnosis, he pulled up the code and it said some thing like "SBK Circuit" / "Battery Safety Terminal" / "Positive Battery Cable Fault". He mentioned that the SBK circuit which is basically the battery safety terminal and the cable after that have to be changed.

Does this sound correct to you? Can this be the fault??

What are your views? Thx in advance!

Nope never was. Hence was wondering how a cable could bring about such a serious fault in the vehicle!!

is there a way to check the bst thing? im get the airbag light from time to time, i can reset it and it will stay off for a random period of time then pop back on and it stays till reset, when i check code i get the batt saftey terminal error, from what i know car hasnt been in wreck however the spring that is posed to hold trunk up somehow got snapped off so im wondering if there some way that could have either set off batt thing or knocked something loose when it snapped off however it did snap off since it was like that when i bought it

Check the 2 wire cable coming from the positive post (that's your safety terminal). I had that issue before. Unhook the battery terminals and disconnect that cable. Clean the connections good left it dry and plug back in. Clear the code and it should stay off. Also how old is your battery? What year and model do you have?

batt age im unsure of but the one that came in car went bad and cause some starting issues so i replaced with a referb due to money issues at the time, i bought this one registered it and all problems i was having went away, im not sure if the air bag light was happening before then or not i think it off an on was but not enough to say it was for sure, is there a way i can check batt other than jus watching voltage? when i watch voltage it fluctuates some but not too much and it never drops below limit nor goes over at least from what i can see on inpa so i figured batt was fine. from what i can tell alt is too but could the pullies or belts cause an issue like this somehow? im wondering if maybe one of my belts starts to slip some when more load is put on engine, im not sure if they ever been changed some im thinking about changing as preventitive, when engine is idling sometimes it seems like the belt an a pully or two seems really wobbly but other times its smooth like it should be.

I posted a pic above so you can know what to look for.

I think what you should do is check the cable then move on to getting you alternator tested. If your light goes off then it's not bad as it seems you just have to find the part that's making it activate. Try cleaning that cable first. Mine did the same as yours and it cleared it right up once I cleaned it. There should be no reason to change anything at this point. If your pulleys were causing it it would be a few things popping up and not one thing. The SRS is the only thing effected so troubleshoot that system only. Then move outward is all fails.

You can test your alternator with a voltmeter. If you're belt is slipping you should be getting other errors. Feel under the seat and see if it's damp. If it is then that's your issue. Or you can take the seat out and check the module and plugs to make sure there's no corrosion
