My Ride: Bmw 530d 2004
Things go on as I painted the quad exhaust tips today .
The process was the same as last year with my OEM tips, except that now I used a different paint that didn't need warming after painting.
Last time I used a heat resistant paint that tolerates up to 600°C temperatures, but now I satisified to go with a paint that tolerates "only" 400°C, but I believe that's enough for tips.
So, it was:
1) Sand 120 --> 400 --> 800
2) Cleaning with turpentine
3) covering areas that didn't need any paint
4) Painting: 4 thin layers with few mins between them --> 30min drying -->4 thin layers again --> 30min drying --> 5 thin layers
Here are some pics of the process.
"Foxy, foxy..."
One sanded, the other one to go:
Both sanded and covered for painting:
My little paintshop :
Afters:
I had to tease myself a bit :
At least Eric was impressed...
What do you think?
