Need help???? What is the normal operating temp. on the E60? my 530 seems to run hot and stays consistent between 205 degrees & 220 deg on noraml driving and goes down at 190 deg at the lowest when on idle parked with the fan running.
Is it running hot? what temp does the thermostat open? I have been monitoring my engine temp the last couple days using my scan tool live data while driving.
Is this normal operating temp on the E60??? no warning signs on idrive. Please help. Newbie on the E60's.

I have a 2005 545i.
Just came back from the dealer yesterday. My coolant temperature was 96*C = 204.8*F.
That was considered normal.

I have a 07 530 with 54K miles.
Thermostat seems to open at 210 deg. I noticed it while driving 45-60 mph when it reaches 210-215 it drops but stays consistent between 205 to 220.
Please help!!!!

Was that on idle or driving condition?
I'm assuming that the thermostat opens at around 210*F then...Can anyone confirm.

I pulled that up from the on-board diagnostics, so that temperature was the last registered value before the car was turned off.

Hmmm..I guess 220 F is normal operating temp then. Thanks for all the info. Very close to 50/50 mixture of boiling point.
