My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
Wow, great shots of the show! It sure was fantastic to see a few of us out there this morning! It was nice also that we all had family along to introduce. We were hustled straight to the bmw stand at 9 am sharp as a perk being a of bmwcca member. There were a few opening statements about the new direction bmw is taking. Most of the cars were open for us.
I found the new five to be a bit underwhelming. The exterior styling has a disjointed combination of rounded lines along with sharp lines. The chromed door handles, the funny looking broad white eyebrows, buttugly squared exhaust tips (ala lexus and mb) and the odd kidney grills will all take some getting used to. It is extremely conservative overall. Maybe I'll be looking at the m3 sedan next time around unless I can afford the awesome alpina 7.
The bmw people there were into the fact that we are all bmw nuts and answered any and all questions. They genuinely seemed to want to know our reaction to the new products they were offering. Nice group of guys.
In other booths, the hot, hot, hot sl amg gullwing was a true standout.
I found myself also really liking the big jag. BMW should steal their i-drive. It is totally touchscreen. The interior of the jag was to me the finest at the show.
I was looking forward to sitting in the panamera, but once in the driver's seat, those two long rows of plastic switches on both sides of the tranny tunnel were hideous.
Audi looked all cool and collected in white, except for the amazing r8 convertible in bright red.
A good show, but real short on car girls. (only dodge/chrysler) The company displays were short on inventive design and concept cars.

I'm not a fan of the rectangular exhaust pipes. First they appeared on the seven series and now the five....It has too much of a Lexus feel.
