Even though I have vacuumed my car many times since November, today when cleaning the right rear passenger floor, I noticed a wiring harness protruding from under the rear passenger seat. There are three wires (Red, Blue, Brown) connected to a female connector. It has a tag that says "Batteriehauptschalter", which in my poor German translates to "Battery Master/Main Switch". Any ideas of what this is used for? :'(

I don't know German but based on your translation, I think that might be where they attach the main disconnect switch during transport, etc. Next time you're at the dealer and they're getting a load of new cars, look inside one and you'll see a switch with some wires laying on the seat or floor. Once the car is delivered to the dealer (or the dealer does the PDI), they remove the switch and the battery stays connected.

I believe Rudy is correct. From what I've been told, it's part of the system that allows power being completely shut off during transport. AFAIK this is required prior to transport to minimize the risk of fires or whatever.
