SA-6FL does not charge iPhone 3Gs?

My Ride: 04 545i sport, stick, L7, sat, nav. Charcoal/ runflat/ cdv delete.
Suede headliner/ trunk, 3 way front speakers, four 8" subs in rear shelf, ACM, iPod dock in ash tray using gateway 500 with MP3 text and video on screen, MRTM aluminum pedals/ door pins, 10 farad cap, sound processor, line conditioner, 2 amps ( 4x100 and 2x200)
I have noticed on a couple pre-LCI E60s that the iPhone 3GS does not charge when using the usb (SA-6FL) in the center console. Can anyone verify this for pre LCI or LCI cars? I know for sure that the Dension Gateway 500 with the new white iPod cable works fine with the iPhone 3Gs.

Apple changed the charge pin from the one that BMW had made to original specs....this was done with a software update.

That is good to know. I still would like to confirm if the new LCI cars also have this problem. But the cable shown seems to solve the problem.
