Yesterday's Pennsylvanua State Route 125 meet was a ton of fun. We had absolutely flawless weather -- mid 60s, no humidity and not a cloud in the sky. It was a perfect day for driving. And no tickets or incidents.
The road was, as usually, incredibly difficult, challenging and thrilling but almost no traffic and no law enforcement presence at all. As with my other two times running this road, we did not see a single police car on the road. What we did see were a number of motorcycle riders challenging the twisties. And at the lunch spot, Skeeters, we saw a meet of a Subaru SRX forum (I think it was SRX.net) and a Harley Davidson club. The road is a magnet for those who love to drive and test themselves. It is quite a test because a mistake can end in disaster.
We had a small group of 4 cars: me, Vlad, Gregg and Vlad's friend Phil. Vlad's GF Sasha also attended as did my son Victor who turned 12 this week. Victor and I had a great time. This is my all time favorite road within a day's drive to and from New York City. It has no equal IMHO in this area.
Here are the pics.
I didn't take pictures of the route this time around because I took about 200 pix of the route on my prior run on the road. Those pix can be seen here: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=83081

Man I am so jealous of your roads and weather! Down here it's humid and HOT! And forget about fun roads
Great pics!
Great pics!
As for our roads, probably the best roads within an hour's drive from NYC are in the Bear Mountain/Harriman area. Some of them are terrific.
This particular road on which we centered this meet is about 2 1/2 hours drive from NYC and is in the middle of nowhere. A long drive but totally worth it to escape the traffic and LE. The difficulty of this road and the quality of the terrain far exceeds any road I have ever been on within a close drive of NYC.

This was the perfect drive, Scott! Thanks a lot for putting all the time into making this happen. The road, the weather, the bbq place... heck, even the breakfast joint, where we stopped on the way to the drive... that little sliding dance my car did at the foot of the serpentine (btw LOVE how the Bimmer handled it - nonchalant, never lost control, very predictable, corrected by a slight counter-steer - never gave me a reason to get scared ) - it was off the hook

Looks like you guys had a great time!
I'm so disappointed for not attending this meet because I LOVE twisty. Like I said in the PM to Scott, both of my kids were sick on Friday

Although I won't try this road again for a formal meet until next year, if you want to run ut in the next 6 weeks or so, PM me. Victor loves the road so if I have a free Saturday, we'd be happy to run it again.
