I change my own oil, so how difficult is it to change the "cabin filter". Is it expensive at the stealership?

Very easy. It's the two black plastic boxes under the hood closest to the windshield. I'll see if I can get you a link on the DYI. It takes 10 minutes max.

It's very simple. There are two filters under the hood, on top of the firewall, next to the bottom of windshield. Should be able to search the internet for cabin filters. I got the activated charcoal type at Amazon.com for $30. The brand is TYC. Merchant is Quality Plus Auto Parts. SKU is A8028C.

Then you can update the iDrive, reset the service indicator, using the procedure published on this board.

Ladies/Gents,

Where is a good place to buy the cabin filter? Do I really need an OEM one or is there a better aftermarket?

Should these be replaced more often than what the iDrive recommends. What's a good interval between changes?
