My Ride: 2006 550i sport package, manual, black on black w/ anthracite trim, pdc, logic 7, cold weather pkg.
Just installed the shift lever from the Z4 3.0 and M Shift Knob.
If any manual trans guys are hesitating on doing this, don't.
It fits like a glove.
I only changed the Shift Lever & the Shift Knob. Everything else stayed the same.

I just bought one of those illuminated shift knobs which works on the Z4 and the E60. So will do both these together. Can you please confirm all the BMW part numbers of stuff required to do this.

when you installed the Z4 shifter, did it make your throws shorter, or is it just sitting lower. Note: sitting lower doesn't necessarily mean shorter throws. How is the crispness of the gears? I have a 535xiT 6 speed with M-Sport Package, I assume that 550 lever is the same as in my car?
