My Ride: 2008 Space Gray 550i, Light Poplar Wood, Anthracite Head Liner, Sport Package, Sport Automatic Transmission, Cold Weather Package, Front Ventilated Comfort Seats in Black Nasca Leather, NAV, HUD, Active Steering, Comfort Access, Night Vision, Lane Deviation Warning, Active Cruise Control, Heated Rear Seats, Folding Rear Seats, Power Shade w/ Rear Side-Shades, Rear Air Bags, Logic 7, HD Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, iPod/USB Adapter. Car in BMW Body Shop, estimated completion 01/24/07.
21 all around mixed traffic/highway/rural. Very acceptable for the performance I get.

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
EU compound given for a 520dA: 5,6 l / 100 km.
Measures by trip and gas fillings so far in average: 6,5 l / 100 km.
But that's mostly city traffic.
Top consumption has been 7,8 l and the lowest 4,9 l / 100 km's.

Hi Everyone
16.0l /100 kms 99% of my driving is stop start around town on and off the motorway stuff, and yes I could save some gas by driving gently....
9.7 to 9.9l/100 kms open road, on the couple off occasions I have done long drives (which I think is amazing) which is gentle as i have the family in the car on these occasions...
I guess i should be driving a 120d based on that profile by I prefer the 545!

22.86 mpg tracked during past 12 months of mixed driving over approx 12K miles (based on computation of gas purchased / miles driven - not on-board computer read-out)

I run a 530DSE Auto 2004 44,000miles with Particle Filter and was dissapointed with the consumption when I purchased it 3 weeks ago.
Looked on here for Fuel Consumption problems and found the main problem was Engine Water Thermostats not operating properly.
I changed the EGR Stat and found it was stuck full open so the car took 15 minutes to get the heater to work. New EGR Stat 4 minutes Heater works and the fuel consumption has improved from 34 mpg average to 39mpg average.
Engine was still struggling though to get up to the full 88-90c optimium operating temp and still took a further 15 minutes to get there from 60c.
Just changed Main Water Thermostat and getting to full temperature from 8c to 88c in 8minutes total and waiting to see now if the consumption improves further now it is not running so long with a cold engine destroying its efficiency.
You can check the digital temp for your water by accessing the hidden menus as described again on this forum.
If you have the white indication bars in your Rev Counter between 4-5thousand revs which move (decrease) as the engine gets hotter, do not think when it stops at 4600revs that the engine is at full temp! It is only at 65-70c when it gets to this stage, the temp will still climb on your digital readout to 88c if the stats are working properlyand stabilise there without any further reduction in white bars showing!
Hope this helps to remind of previouse posts on the subject of consumption.

I'm getting 20.7 right now, and I haven't been driving like a grandma.
I put the the cruise control at 50 this morning and got 33.7mpg. Which is not too shabby for a V8...
