Can anyone tell me where to fine the outside temperature guage on 2004 530i? While driving it the summer heat of Texas, the snow flake pops up on the instrument panel for a few minutes. This is noot happenning all the time, only once every 2-3 weeks. Is it possible the cable/plug is loose?

I always assumed it installed around the rainsensor area on the windshield. Please correct me if I'm wrong but that is what I just assumed. Also, the temperature isn't really that accurate. It's more of an estimate.

What is the reading of the thermometer when the snowflake appears?

It is either 34 or 37 degrees for a few minutes then start climbing to close to normal temp.

Very weird. My 3 series only shows when the temperature is drop to a certain point. I believe it's like 31 degrees Fahrenheit. I never had a problem with it.

I had a similar problem on an earlier e34 and fixed the problem by changing the cable that plugs into the front bumper. I have no idea where to find the cable on the E60. Any ideas.

The sensor is installed in the lower portion of the bumper...

There was a thread a while back that had a good photo of what it looks like on a car without the M-sport front but now the photo link is dead...

Here's a picture of my front with the sensor circled in red:
