I'll make it short and simple. This thread will help those that what to go with custom exhaust for their e60 5 series. I will post links of members that have done custom exhaust. Calling all custom exhaust installation, post a link of your exhaust (in the past too) to help future members.
Below are a few of my links. SocalM5Mang, RodyBMW, Presley, VT, r1racer, and some others, come on down.

My Ride: 2007 550i, Mystic Blue over Auburn, 6-Manual, Sports, Premium, Cold Weather, Logic 7, Nav, Sirius, MTec Front & Sides with M5 rear apron, VIS Penta carbon fiber vented hood, OEM M166s, (or Style 101M with winter 19 Blizzaks), BMW Blue Calipers, Custom Quad Exhaust and M5 side grills, trunk finisher and spoiler. Rogue Octane SSK/WSR and Zeckhausen CDV, BMW illuminated shift knob, Delivered 4/26/06 - Ordered 3/18/06 from Otto's (the Best) BMW Dealership.
Here's my QUAD work... This is an M5 rear apron with Magnaflow transverse muffler #14267 which is designed with a 3" inlet and twin 2.5" outlets rated for up to 6.0 liter engine. The fabricator used a 3.5" stainless tube formed to an oval and TiG welded to the stock resonator, then used SS flange so the unit can be dismantled. Magnaflow twin 3" tips (double walled, polished and signed on the sides) are graft on the driver's side and the transverse 2.5" SS tube is mandrel bent and exits the passenger side between the battery box and the spare tire well. SS hangers were used to fasten it tightly. As a nice finish, the stock plastic passenger side undercover was cut and refitted, and the spare tire well and all related undercarriage were coated black for protection so the underside is very clean and stock looking. The diffuser screen is temporary until I can find the proper M-tec like plastic honeycomb material to make a really good looking one.
Pat at After Market Accents in West Chester Pennsylvania did this work for me including my side grills and tint. He can reproduce all of this and does great work. The fabrication and material quality (all TiG welded) is fantastic and the car sounds magnificent.
Here's some pics:
Any questions welcome.

Pat at Aftermarket Accents in West Chester PA did this work and will reproduce it including the M5 apron bracket for $1050, dropping to $1,000 for 2 or more. I am working to get video and sound clips (sorry Fast Lane- I haven't forgotten) so you can hear it. I've run it cold and there is zero discernible difference side to side in condensate, smoke or whatever- in fact the pressure feels pretty consistent across the four tips. This particular muffler is designed as a tranverse and the design is supposed to equalize the dual outlets from the single inlet. From all I can tell it works...
For those worried about whether this is "enough" muffler, it was designed for SB V8 and is used on Camaro/FIrebird, but it's not loud at all because of the stock resonator. It just has a great throat and is awesome through the revs, but if you're just crusing you can't hear it at all. This was important to me for long trips, and I just wanted to hear it more going through the gears. One caveat- my MPG is down 2.5 MPG because I can't keep my foot out of it...
He also hung my M5 rear apron (from QUAD-M) for $150 including the bracket, and my side grills for $300 including rustproofing. I love the look and for the $ I wish I did it earlier.
