One of our members paid me for the completely Non Strobing version v5 even though I had not even built one or had plans to do so!!
Anyway after 2 long weeks of research I finally found a solution and have managed to build him a completely Non Strobing version of my LCI taillights retrofit kit. I'm calling it v5. Now there is no Strobing of the taillight LED rods or the Turn light LEDs with any position of the lights switch. The difference between the v4 and v5 is that in the v4 the LED rods will strobe on start-up but in the v5 they won't.
At first I thought it would be simple task because I've built a similar circuit for the Turn LEDs but boy was I wrong. The big difference is that the voltages are different and that was creating havoc with my design (and mind). But I got there in the end, whew...
However the cost of doing this additional tweak will probably be too restrictive so I don't expect demand to be high for the v5. I am thinking about providing an upgrade for v4 owners who absolutely want this v5 feature but haven't thought about how I'd do that just yet.
I've attached a picture to compare a v5 cable to a v4 cable. As you can see the enclosure is a lot bigger in the v5 because of the extra electronics involved. Cable on the top is the v5.

I have never noticed the strobing on the v4 version (my light switch is always on auto) but it's a nice improvement I guess .
I'll stick to the v4 since it's working fine for me.

Agree. But some people want nothing but perfection. v5 is for them. v4 is just fine for the rest of us.

Bruce - I have v4 and am pretty happy with it. Just curious, how much are we talking about for the upgrade? Thanks.
But indeed how much is it to get this perfection?

The Turn light LED Strobes both on Start-Up and once every 5 minutes or so. That was cured on V4.
The LED rods Strobe only on Start-Up, that was never cured on V4 to keep the costs down. However some people absolutely wanted no Strobing at all. That gave rise to the V5. As mentioned V4 and V5 are both available and you have the choice.
PM me for prices.
