I want to remove the useless black thing in the center console. Rudy, can you supply the directions?

I saw in the DIY section on installing the CPT9000, however, all it says is 'remove the 4 torx screws'. I briefly looked at the assembly, and could not see how to get at the 4 torx screws.

Thanks!

I've made it one step further than you, but that's it. If you lift up the phone cradle/box, the 4 torx screws can be accessed from the bottom. But that only gets the top of the cradle off. The bottom is still hinged into the center arm rest and I have been unable to get that out, short of using brute force and breaking something. Next time I bring the car in (soon for ANOTHER cracked headlight bracket!), I'll have the tech remove it. I've never heard of anyone doing it themselves, though I've seen posts over on RF about the dealer taking it out. If you can figure out the DIY part, please pass it along!

I just had my dealer do it. Well worth the $100 investment.

That was one of the requests that I made for my car while it was in the shop -- 18 days and growing.

I had mine removed by my dealer prior to me picking up the car.
Did it for free, I didn't get the cradle though, that's OK I will never own a cell phone, but that's another story for another thread.

Now the console has a useful storage space, not a lot but better then nothing.

Didn't somebody post instructions for that a while ago?

yes, Rudy was kind enough to dig up some instructions, but they involved taking apart the entire center console, something I was not willing to do myself. Those instructions are out there, I'm just not that mechanically inclined to undertake such a project.

A hundred bucks? What does the dealer charge per hour-$200?

i think $600/hr . that seems like a less than 10 minutes job <_<. $100 is kind of pricey .

Can't it be cut out with a fine hack saw?
