Have somebody tryed out other transmision oil's in ther GA6HP19Z gearbox ? , BMW recomend only to use the Shell M-1375.4 oil ( very expensiv ) , have been told that the Mobil AFT Oil LT71141 can be used without any problems instead , anyone with experience ?

Please come with your "input" to this subjekt :-)

Here is a US based supplier of the ZF fluid. According to them, there is no alternative: http://www.thectsc.com/index.php?p=p...=184&parent=58

I just changed mine with the ZF fluid ($18 per liter) and have had smoother and faster shifting and am very happy. From everything I have read, I would highly discourage using alternative fluid. It is not worth ruining a $6-8k transmission over maybe $10 price difference per liter doesn't seem worth it in my opinion.

Search my name i covered this myth lol and had detailed data sheets attached in a thread. Also I used a Ford fluid others used pentosin or zf or redline etc...and its more than a 10 dollar savings. Its 10 bucks per liter or more savings for the same stuff that they are charging you 18 to 30 for.

If I am changing 6 quarts of fluid a difference of $12 per quart for a total of $72 dollar savings, there is no WAY I am risking using fluid that these transmissions were not designed to use. The wrong fluid can wear down clutch packs and solenoids in the mechatronics unit prematurely resulting in a $2000-$6000 transmission repair/replacement sooner down the road.

For $72, I will use the spec fluid designed specifically for this transmission. Just because flash points and viscosity are similar does not make fluids anything near the same.

Don't mean to offend anyone, that's just my 2 cents.

Have today been in contact with a German AT specialist ( Bernhard Specht ) and thy say that the Mobil LT71141 can be used as a substitute for Shell 1375.4 AT oil , thy have several years of positiv experience with that oil in the GA6HP19 > 32 AT gearbox'es.

So I'm going to try that out when changing my Torque Converter next month ( saveings about 225$ by 10 Liter AT oil ).

Price's here in Denmark for your information:

Mobil LT71141 : 11.00$ / Liter

Shell 1375.4 / ZF Lifeguard-6 : 33.50$ / Liter

Well..i used ESSO LT71141 on my previous BMW 330i 2006 & on my current BMW 530i i used SHELL 1374.5 remember both cars have same trannies GA6HP19Z both ATF worked perfectly specially ESSO LT71141 on my 330i which was slightly cheaper half the price of SHELL. But i also advise you not to completely drain and use new oil instead remix them @ 60/40 ratio. 60 old and 40 new bcz after draining 6 qts and putting new few days later my trans start slipping, mind in both cars it got slipping but it was worst in 530i with SHELL. Im not saying SHELL is bad ofcourse its OEM but better to mix with old ATF for safe side.

The title of this thread is confusing. To me, gearbox means manual transmission...

And to me a gearbox can be either an automatic or manual transmission/gearbox :-) , "perhaps" therfor I did write the type of the gearbox ( GA6HP19-26 etc. = BMW automatic transmission's/gearbox'es ) in the headline of this tread , this in order to indicate what kind/type of gearbox "I was refering to" , but that demand that people "do read" the headline , so please do that next time you "click" on a post , then you will not be waisting your time, and not need to "spam" a tread with "non talk" :-)
