retrofitting auto fold mirrors

Has anyone tried and successfully installed auto folding mirros (the m5 replica ones for example) into a pre LCI e60?
My car is manufactured 09/2005 and it has electric/anti-fog/heated mirrors, no auto fold or dimming.
I think I saw someone on the forums who managed to do it so they auto fold from the keyfob. I assume the cables on the M5 mirrors will not be the same as the wiring in my car so I wonder is it only a matter of connecting the cables the right way and then just code option sa430 to get the auto fold from the fob?
The thing is I read on the forums that there are a few different types of cables such as pre 09/2005 and post 09/2005 which have different connections, since my car is manufactured 09/2005 I have no idea which it can be!

Don't know how to cut and paste the link but you can look in Bruce Miranda's profile, under topics section and you will see the thread. Please note he's in UK so I dont know how his E60, diesel, works. I never bother to search that much on the topic itself.

Blood has done it.

Your car will need coding after fitting the mirrors, but as for the wiring it may be worth taking the mirrors off and checking as your car is sept 2005. (could be pre or post wiring)
There is also some info in that thread about if you have the required door modules or not.
...I also plan on doing this as soon as I can get my hands on a set of pre 2005 folding mirrors.

I have also done it https://5series.net/forums/topic/111...1#entry1317074
can i simply throw in a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123 and just code the keyfob for folding?
or are the cables in that pair way different than in my car and it still needs modules if it the car doesn't have them already?
also do the LHD mirrors fit in a RHD car and vice versa?

First of all those are not E60 M5 mirrors but the E39 style M5 mirrors.
LHD and RHD mirrors cannot be swapped because the brackets are different.
There are several people who have put on auto-fold mirrors. Depending on the age of your car you will have door modules or not. Both are equally difficult or easy to do and both require coding.
If you have the car with the door modules then all you have to do is plug the new mirrors into the module. With cars that don't have it you will have to rewire the KGM.

thanks bruce.
i suppose i should open up the doors and see but its a bit of a job in itself and i rather replace mirrors if i do that. where would i find a KGM?
don't suppose you have a shop link to a decent e60 set of auto fold mirrors. only thing i find on ebay seems to be standard auto fold ones

Is a switch pack required or can the folding mirrors just be put on the car and key fob just coded
