so my bro in law has an 05 530i and i have an 07 525i.
ive noticed that some cars have agm batteries and others dont.
he changed his battery himself w/ no issues or reprogramming and it works fine.

can i do the same for mine? or is my battery DIFFERENT??
i got the day off from work to go to the dealer but if this can be avoided id rather do it myself.
im on a time crunch. anyone got pics or videos for diy battery install?

PLEASE HELP

JJust replace with the same battery, and you should be fine. If you have an agm, replace with same. And try to match the cold cranking amps.

+1 Mine had the original lead acid battery. I replaced it with a NAPA 7549. No problems.
Make sure your new battery has a vent hole to attach the existing vent tube.

my radio had bad reception but after i got my battery registered at the dealer it works great. i guess if you dont register your battery the correct voltage will not be sent to your units = problems down the road w/ any electrical unit. im glad i went to the dealer.

I decided to go with the WalMart MAXX-94R in my e60 530i, about $100 installed. Yes, I know, a lot of you will say I'm going to ach-eee-double hockey sticks, but I'm going to avoid the registering for now. No problems so far.

FYI: Wally World no longer has their 8 yr prorated warranty, it's only a full 3 year now.

You can always just call your local dealer and talk to the service and parts department and ask them what kind of battery your vehicle has. Then just go pick one up from Wal-Mart or Autozone.
As far as the reprogramming goes many have done it without reprogramming and haven't had an issue.
