Stock Subwoofer Replacement- E60
I have an '08 535i with L7. I have a blown sub under the passenger seat (with 52K miles and under CPO - thanks a lot for the timing and warranty exclusions!!) Of course dealer quotes $700 for new sub. There must be a way to simply replace the blown sub (that is making the "splat" torn speaker sound whenever bass hits) with a comparable speaker that is not sold by BMW parts dept. I have not been able to figure out online or from dealer the model or specs of the stock L7 subs. Has anyone does this replacement before? Particulary, I am thinking of replacing with a like-specification sub that I can buy elsewhere.
Thanks for any advice.

I'm sure other audio pros will chime in but I assume you can get the signal from the rear speakers with a high low adapter, then 2 amps, 1 4 channels to power the 10 interior speakers and a separate one for the sub, most likely a mono channel amp. Was thinking of setting up my own system when I first got the car to but with L7, too much restriction so at the end I don't think it would make that much of a difference. Just got a powered sub and hook up in the trunk for additional bass.
Thanks for the recommendation of the Earthquake SWS-8. Has anyone used this sub or another one as a direct drop-in replacement for the Logic7 system? I'm not necessarily trying to improve the sound of the L7 (pretty happy with it), but one of the subs is blown and sounds horrible now. I am concerned that I get the correct specifications for the drop in replaceemnt so as not to damage my amp, etc. Does anyone know how I can find the specs of the current sub to be sure I am getting a like-specified replacement?

In your case, you will have to replace the sub with an OEM otherwise, you will have to feed the L7 amp into another amp through a LOC and then drive new sub woofers. Check on the forums for used OEM subs because there are many who have swapped these out.

They are almost perfect. Though I dont think you can put the cover back on. From what I hear, they need to be driven harder for it to be worth it. Without an aftermarket amp, you might as well stick with OEM.
