shop quoted me $1100 for 2 rotors, 4 pads, 2 sensors
Wow, that's a lot. I do vaguely remember my dealership (always on the high side, of course) saying a brake job is about 800, which is still quite expensive. I had a local guy quote me 300 when I was contemplating on getting extended maintenance. Not sure if the brakes on an E60 need special dealership service and can easily be done at an independent BMW or even yet a brake specialist shop.
Actually this is an independant shop. This is the "most reputable" shop according to the local BMW guys. The 2 guys who run the shop are X BMW master techs who left the dealership to start this shop.

that is WAYYYYYYY overpriced...your not doing much technical work here so look for another indy...most shops can do this simple exhange of rotors and pads. Sometimes we baby our cars too much...these kind of procedures dont always have to be performed by a BMW tech. I am sure there are other shops there just as capable of doing this simple task for you. Good luck!
