Swaping Seats...Can it be done easily???
#1
I currently have really basic leatherette seats in my 2007 e60. I found a set of brown leather standard seats that came off an 05. The seats I have found are heated and have lumbar support in which my seats don't have. Can I just mount the seats and connect the memory features and tilt features that my car is wired for without using the heater or the lumbar?

Are your current seats "full-electric", or are they "semi-electric"? How about the new seats?
If your currents are "semi-electric" and the new ones are "full-electric", then you need some new wiring and programming to get them work at all. If they are both "semi-electric" or both are "full-electric", then they are plug and play.
The lumbar support (the round switch with arrows) will work without any modifications, but the heating will require programming, I think.
I went from semi-electric standard seats to semi-electric sport seats and they were a plug&play .

I think they are full electric, but how would I know? The switch panel looks exactly alike except the new seats have the lumbar button.
If I don't use, program, or connect the heater, will I get an error message or anything negative?

By semi-electric I mean:
- the forward-backward is manually adjusted
- the tilt is manually adjusted
By full-electric I mean that above functions are electrically adjusted. So, if there's not any manual levers on the side panel, they are full-electric.
How about your current seats, which are they?

edit: Like I said I went from semi-electric standard seats to semi-electric sport seats and they were a plug&play, but I can't be 100% sure about full-electric seats. My previous seats and the new sport seats both have the heated seat function, so I didn't need any reprogramming.

Ok... I don't really care for the heated seat function so I will be fine without reprogramming... Thank you for your assistance. Btw, I have viewed your interior many times before and it is a work of art!

Fold down front seats?
Usually the fold down option is discussed as an option for the rear seat...
Are you sure the seats are from an E60? They could be from a 6series, because it's a coupe.
