I have run flat tyre package on my 2004 e60 which means I dont have a spare or a jack in my boot (trunk)
What I want to know is how do i jack up my car using my trolley jack because i dont have the bmw jack (i want to paint my calipers.... probably get stuck doing that too but thats only if i succeed in jacking the car up first!!!!!)
I have read somewhere on this forum about someone using wooden blocks cut to size so it fits into the jack points but is that really necessary?
There may be other jack points towards the centre of the undercarriage but I probably wont find them. Some people say they use the differential as a jack point and some definately say NOT to use the diff.
Its getting a bit confusing and to be perfectly honest I cant seem to be able to do anything without running into problems. Cant seem to be able to takeof the kidney grill which is supposed to be a piece of piss.
I want to paint the calipers but i dont want to use a trolley jack in the incorrect place and cause damage.

there are four lifting points on the car with the plastic pucks, plus the center lift pad in the front.
you can see the two front lift points....jack stand, and jack

if you jack from the other 4 jacking points, either use a jack pad in the cup or place some shims, maybe heavy rubber pads inside the cup, so that the perimeter of the jacking cup doesnt come in contact with the car body.

Jacking from the diff may not be preffable but it's the only rear jacking point we have. Or at least from what I could see

Cheers turbo and jasper, that's brilliant and thanks for quick responses. Beware I have somehow started a similar post which is just a duplicate of this one which I thought I didn't post successfully (done on my mobile) but it did so let's see if I can erase it or amend it somehow. Thanks again
