I have the standard leather electric sport seats which came with my pre LCI E60, now in general they are reasonably comfy, however the headrests seem to be way too far apart from my head to offer any support.

Solution - Do what everyone else has done and just get some comfort seat headrests - Now obviously these just dont crop up that often and I didn't really want to pay BMW £400 ish for a couple of headrests.

After scouring the internet and scrap yards for these headrests I stumbled across a knackered BMW E70 (X5) in a scrapyard which happened to have the LCI headrests, now at the time I was using my wifes car Audi A3, so was uncertain if these would fit into my E60, anyway I bought them for the pricely sum of £20!!!!!!!

Got home and tried them straight away, they fit!! just need to make a few adjustments, my pre lci headrests posts have slots grooved into them where the LCI ones are smooth, they do hold in position when in the seat but do drop after a while. Any ideas anyone?

Anyway onto the pictures.

Since fitting them this morning they are allot more supportive and very comfortable and I cannot beleive my bargain of £20 or about $45 for our American friends for BOTH headrests.

Looks great! I wonder if you can swap out the posts without too much work or maybe even make your own slots.

I might have a look at breaking open my old headrests to utilise the headrest posts, if not might find out if the chrome posts can be cut to put the grooves in.

I will keep this thread updated for anyone who is interested.

Excellent - I was interested in the comfort headrests but this is alot similar and easier.

Bargain! what you could do is go back to the scrappy and get the internal bracket from the seats? Have a look on the thread with the comfort head rests its the bit the head rest bars slot into...

Wish I could find a baring like that

Wow I'd totally do this too but my headrest folds out and hugs my head and I kinda like that, but the ones you got look like they'd be way more comfortable now nicely done!

I had a similar problem when I changed my headrests for the TV mounts i.e. the poles were smooth. Just take it to a metal works shop and they can make the slots where you want them.
