I was at the dealer today for a little service and had some free time to walk the lot.
What I found was an F10 frenzy! There were at least 10 of these on the lot and I have to say, it was beginning to grow on me. I think I became more open minded because there were several color combos this trip along with different packages. Prior to this visit my dealer has only black 5s and 7s and I honestly had trouble telling the difference between the two.
I was drawn a silver 535 , which from the from the front was actually pretty stunning. I liked the aggressive lines and can picture an aero kit looking nice on that thing. It's roomy inside and very driver friendly from what I made of things.
But my disappointment was soon brought back when I went around to the rear of the car. It's a big car yet it feels like they attempted to make the rear appear that of a smaller car, which is why I keep confusing the 7 for the 5....it's style is replicated on both. The back of the car loses it's clean lines and is smothered in this roundness that makes it appear as some sort of 3 series rear gone bad!
I realize it cannot be all things to all people, but I think they missed the mark on the rear design.
With that said, the E60 was also an acquired taste for me, and I absolutely love it now.
So I'm keeping an open mind, and waiting for an F10 aero kit before rendering final judgement.

Funny - I think they totally dropped the ball on the design of the front...

 

I almost put a deposit on an F10 550i before buying the E60 M5! I sat inside the cabin and loved it so much. Then walked outside and looked at the front end. Asked the dealer how it may look with the MSport Package. Didnt like it at all. I love the side. So-so in the rear. The front is growing on me but still hate the HUGE grills. It's too freakin big.

 

Interior is beautiful, but you know what? might as well get the 7. F*ck the F10 :thumbsdown: became a half-ass car instead of THE defining car of its class.

 

The 5 Series is STILL THE defining car of its class.

I'd rather get the 7 over the 5 if it were down to those 2. I'm waiting for the 6'er since that's more interesting to me at the moment.
